45 Minutes of Cross Stitching

Some of you who've known me for some time, know that I was an avid cross stitcher before catching the scrapbook bug in 2008. I picked up needle and thread for the first time last night since I began scrapbooking...and I have to admit, it was quite enjoyable!

I've always had a few favorite designers, Mirabilia, Dragon Dreams, Lizzie Kate, Fanci That, Mosey'n Me, Bent Creek, Black Swan, Enchanting Lair, Theresa Wentzler...Just to name a few!

I loved combining these beautiful patterns with some fun and funky hand dyed linen and threads...but alas, Sugar Maple Fabrics is no more :( Very sad to see a wonderful Canadian shop close. I guess I will have to choose which SMF fabbies from my stash I use very carefully from now on as they are VERY expensive on Ebay! LOL

Here is my progress on the Emerald Mermaid...as I mentioned, I was only stitching for about 45min last night, so there isn't much to see yet hehe

Here is what the end result should look like ;)

Cheers,

Steph

Balance

Hi folks!
Some fantastic news to report....I sold my house on Friday! Yay! After 5 months of worrying, hoping and everything being on hold "until I sell the house..." its finally done! I'm so thrilled, and can't wait to get the rest of my things moved to Halifax :)

And of course, because the universe always balances things out....Dave and I came home from a quick Saint John trip Monday night to a leaky toilet tank in the basement. The water had gone from the washroom and then into the next room that just so happens to house ALL of my scrappy supplies! Yikes!

Thanks goodness the rec room has some funky foam floor (installed before I moved in so Dave could practice Karate) the water hadn't reached more than an inch so the flooring kept everything pretty dry. However in order to dry the basement out after shutting off the toilet, we had to move all of my things out of the way and lift up the tiles...so no scrappin' for me!

We've mopped it all up, and have had the dehumidifier and Humidex on full blast...so I'm hoping it may be ok to begin putting things back to normal tonight...if not, I think I'll be bringing some scrappy and Whimsy supplies upstairs tonight! tee hee

hugs

Hi Folks!

Just a quick posting to show you a layout I worked on last week for the February LCOM “ScrapCapture”….we were presented with one of Donna Downey’s beautiful layouts and asked to “Capture” our take on it!

Lots of Butterflies, Glimmer Mist and Ranger Distressed Inks on this one, Pink Paislee papers, a few Sassafras Felties and one of their very vintage stickers! Each butterfly was handcut (I traced from a Scenic Router Chipboard piece) and then sewed them on one by one in their centers…that way they can flap their wings!

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a great day J

So You Think You Can Scrap Week 8 @ LCOM

Here's my entry for the LCOM contest this week....the theme was "Retro"....Wasn't my little Sis adorable as a child??? Those pigtails were the cutest....her hair was so straight and soooo thick, my mom really struggled with it!

I think eveyr single thing on this layout is vintage Sassafras (of course!)...I don't even know why I have other manufacturers in my stash as I keep reaching for the Sass LOL

Happy "its almost Friday"
Steph

**edited to add: My sister is STILL adorable ;) Nothing has changed much...except maybe her hair hehehe

A Family Album Mini

I picked up this Marrakech Basic Grey paper pack ages ago...its really not my style of papers but it had my sister's name all over it!!! I couldn't resist! Not sure if she reads my blog or not....(Sally, if you are reading, pretend to be surprised next time I visit LOL)

I've been working on a few other layouts, but nothing I can share just yet....a bit of Creative Scrappers and LCOM reveals hehe
Cheers,

Chasing Rainbows...and an Elephant.

Here is my take on the "So You Think You Can Scrap" contest Week 7 over at LCOM....The competition is fierce this week! You must pop over and see what the girls brought to the scrappy table this week! Wow!!! Phenomenal...best week yet!

I chose to use the super fun Amplify Collection from Sassafras....I love the 80's feel to it! So fun and vibrant! The bird pin and yellow button are from MLBOW (of course!)

And this little Elephant Album was a from the MakeNTake at the LCOM Cyber crop last weekend! Its just super tiny, took maybe 20min to make! I think I'm going to give it to my Sister on Saturday so she can put mini photos of Rohan in her wallet :)

Dave and I are on vacation tomorrow....but as luck would have it, I think I may be coming down with a cold *sigh* Let's hope sleeping in a bit in the morning will help :)
Thanks for stopping by!
